I had a great experience at Kings Inn in Michigan City! For the rate I paid, I was impressed. This is a place where you get what you pay for! The people in the office were very friendly and the owner was super helpful in assisting and making sure I was comfortable. I recommend for a cheap place to stay and homely atmosphere
We struggled a bit with our reservations when we arrived (we used hotwire) and the lobby gives a bad first impression (other than a wonderful curry smell when we entered, lol). But I felt like they were in the process of renovating and once you get past the first impression, you find a warm, friendly and inviting staff and rooms that far exceeded our expectations for a $40 dollar room. They were clean, everything worked and was comfortable. The wifi worked well. The rooms were well maintained and visually appealing. It was conveniently located right off of the highway. So while. It wasn't perfect, it was a solid room and a good staff.
What a world of difference since my last stay.. I stayed for a few days last week,and it blew me away. Everything has been completely re done and the bed was super comfortable . The new management knows exactly what needed to be done. I'll Def go back my next time in Michigan city ....(clean,and compfy) 5 stsrs
Kings inn I stayed for a few days to relax . The staff and the owners nice and friendly and less in- expensive . Kings inn is improving and continually strive to destiny greatness . Any hotel I stay over night . I maintain my room and help keep it clean and organized . I treat the hotel room as if it was my house.
Great old school roadside motel. Huge rooms. Clean. Friendly owner/operator who set up the initial approach to scream Namaste. Mr Patel was great and has the best hair in the biz. When you are finally sick of huge corporate chains with rude staff and tiny rooms stay at a place like this. It has its quirks as any real motel should have but it adds to the charm. Clean, hot shower, accessible, and homey. Highly recommend
Other reviews are old... Place is clean and updated. Room is clean, quite and roomy. Bed is very comfortable and sheets are very clean, no stains or blood spots as other reviews state. No carpet n no bugs! Staff is very friendly.
I stayed here long ago circa 1979-1983 back when it was a really nice motel. My dad used to take me out to Ft. Wayne to visit our family and we would stop off in Michigan City to rest (coming from Chicago). I was only 9 to 13 but it seemed like such a grand motel at that time. I still remember those velvet purple blankets on the beds! Too bad it fell into disrepair and despair over the years and shut down.
Nice clean stable environment. Perfect for the family to save some bills, but yet have a nice clean room. The staff are nice and friendly, and the do weekly to monthly rent. It's right there with the ones that charge double amount. Check it out, Kings inn
I was able to help a disabled person get this room week by week! Until he get housing help!! Room is outdated, Old smell, Mattress is old! BUT THE STAFF IS GREAT! The GUESTS I SEE ARE GREAT! The heat, WiFi, fridge, microwave, parking is GREAT! The bathroom looked clean. STAFF IS ALWAYS AROUND CLEANING AND NICE! I do not know of after-dark issues but my friend says it’s quiet! YOU ARE LOCATED BY STORES, Restaurants, gas, Walmart! You can really walk in warm weather! Just be careful of crazy traffic!! IT’S AN OLDER MOTEL BUT I WOULD RENT AGAIN!! I hope they get funds to update rooms! But then you’ll get higher rates! THANK YOU ALL for helping my friend! May you stay nice, safe and blessed in LIFE!!
My husband and I were at the hotel for 2 days....it was a HUGE improvement from when I last stayed there, about 3 and 1/2 years ago. The rooms are adequate, and I had what I needed and were cleaner than I remember them to be. However, I do wish the towels and washcloths would have been newer and cleaner...Staff was very nice and the lobby was absolutely gorgeous and was definitely the biggest improvement I've seen so far. Smelled amazing, and I just wanted to sit and hang out there because it was so cozy feeling. Lol I didn't see any bugs at all in my room. I would say the only complaint I would have would be the TV didn't seem to have enough channels, and there was one housekeeper that I thought was fairly rude but she was an older lady so I just took it as a normal attitude for a grumpy older lady. I would stay here again and probably will because it really is a cheap alternative.
